THEY READ THE STORIES HEAR THE SONGS BUT WHAT DO THEY FEEL
history
"Little bird, little bird
Where have you gone?
The woods are waking up
Its time to go home!
Hurry, hurry
Hide in the brush!
The wolves have caught your scent
Now its time to hush!
Little bird, little bird
Mama's waiting at home!
Quick find the path
The monsters have found you."
There are few accurate records about the Child of Light, the only reliable one being that of an old child's lullaby from a small village to the east. There are various stories and theories that revolve around the Parhelion, some of which give the creature a different name. Bright dragon, False Angel, Tomoshibi-Inu; these are just a few names of many that have been altered or have remained the same throughout the passage of time. Accounts have recorded that this monster was born in the east but had somehow migrated through the lands to end up in the Selphia. It had been many years some have figured, since the last time the Parhelion was seen. The first one to report the sighting was a traveler who had just begun to leave Selphia only to return back in fear.
The traveler who had spotted the creature found it had made its residence among the clouds high onto Leon Karnak. Several courageous explorers had taken part in an expedition to see it was true. Only three out of five came back, the remaining two reported deceased. After that few dared to venture within the beast's territory without a proper gift. The survivors had noted that the creature liked polite people who didn't attack it outright, offerings of precious minerals and rice dishes often kept the monster at bay. But even with all their caution and warnings, the Parhelion would steal away to the land below and kidnap passing travelers. While some would return unscathed, others were never to be seen again.

This traveler was awfully jittery, even for being a mortal creature. Well it wasn't like Parhelion itself was immortal but it couldn't quite remember just how old it was, old enough to forget it supposed. Even so didn't these interesting beings not enjoy its company? It had pulled out all the stops to bring the merchant-of-some-kind to its home, mostly to observe and be a gracious host. The little man had given the most interesting and adorable of cups, little things with tiny handles that it couldn't possibly put a claw or talon through but the designs looked just like the tiny pink flowers one could see in the spring trees. They were very appealing to the creature's eyes, even more so than the raw stones and various pieces of jewelry that were often gifted to it. It just had to thank the little man for his gift! And so is how they were as they were. Parhelion idling on one side of a crate-for-a-table while the man was on the other, nibbling ever so delicately at a riceball that had been a gift from earlier in the day. The man would speak at times, most of it ending in a whisper that sounded more like a whimper. Thankfully, Parhelion believed itself a benevolent being and forgave the soft being.
"Why have you taken me..?" The man would squeak, "Did those knights lie to me..." He would whimper. Parhelion let him continue to speak to himself and to it, often flicking its wing-like ears as a reply or shaking one of its three tails. It did not have a mouth shaped to speak the mortal language so it could only attempt to show its emotions. So far the man was still frightened despite the beast's obvious displays of peace. It had even gifted the man with another riceball. Surely that would have been more than enough? But no. The man was still eager to leave. Parhelion wasn't one to keep an unwilling companion, especially not one that didn't peak its interest so after a few more hours it guided the man down its home. It watched as the man hurried away, a puff escaping its nostrils before it made the trek back up.
